Latin American Astrobiology Congress
The First Latin American Astrobiology Congress or I-CLA is organized by the astrobiology community of the region. The conference will convene scientist from Latin America who work in the interdisciplinary field of astrobiology - the study of origin ,evolution , distribution ,and future of life in the universe - to report in search findings and plan future endeavors.
The theme for I-CLA is “The challenges for the development of astrobiology in Latino America”.
The congress will address, among other topics:
•Terraforming and manned missions
•The Origins and Subsequent Evolution of Life
•Search for life on other planets
•Mars analog on Earth
•Effects of the space environment on living things
•Habitability of exoplanets
•Astrobiology Education and Public Outreach
Astrobiology has increased new question about life's origin, evolution and its future perspectives which has caused controversy and the increasing of man´s curiosity to know more than his own limit.
As the field of astrobiology has grown, there has been an increased need to train the next generation of astrobiology researchers and educators, especially in Latin America. This is why, in 2016, The Peruvian Astrobiology Society established this congress.
I-CLA will provide a forum for reporting on new discoveries, sharing data and insights, advancing collaborative efforts and initiating new ones, planning new projects, and educating the next generation of astrobiologists.

Abstract Instructions for I-CLA
The Scientific Society of Astrobiology of Peru (SCAP) invites all professionals, students and academics in general to submit abstracts of their research papers to be presented at the First Latino American Congress of Astrobiology (LCA), to be held at the Pontificie Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP) Lima, Peru.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is July 9, 2016.
Those jobs sent by persons previously registered in the event, whether original scientific research or literature reviews, which address issues concerning the Congress will be accepted.
In the case of original research, sending the abstract, the main author must indicate in the email subject if the presentation will be in poster or oral presentation format. (Ejm.: Pérez J., López M.A., Quispe D.).
However, the commission reserves the right to define the mode of final presentation and the decision will be informed to all authors via email.
In the case of literature reviews, these will be presented in poster format.
In addition, abstracts will be published here , on the official website of the event (www.psw2016.com).
You can submit your abstract in the pre - registration wihtout paying the fee but you must be sure to pay in the Registration deadline.(see the registration instruction) .
Abstract guidelines:

Abstracts should be sent in Word format, Arial, size 12, line spacing 1.15 and justified.

Should strictly contain the information listed below (the abstract that do not contain what is requested, will not be considered for review):

Title should be in both Spanish and English, in bold capitals.

Under the title, first name and initial of the name of the authors, separated by commas (ejm .: J. Perez Lopez M. A., D. Quispe) should be indicated.

The name of the author who will present the presentation should be placed first and must be underlined. Then, under the surnames of the authors, should be placed affiliation of each, which shall be indicated by an Arabic numeral in superscript after the initials of the name and affiliation before.On the next line should be placed in brackets email responsible for the work.

In the next paragraph place the summary. The body of the abstract should be in Spanish language and have a maximum of 300 words. It must contain as main elements target and / or working hypotheses, methodology, results, discussion and conclusion.

Information for Oral and Poster Presentations
Poster Presentation:
The size poster should be 120cm high x 80 cm wide or 150 cm high x 80 cm wide. The poster must contain the essential elements (objective and / or working hypotheses, methodology, results, discussion and conclusion).
Day and time of presentation and placement of the posters will be established and that will be informed via email.
Oral Presentation:
The speaker will prepare a presentation of 20 minutes maximum. At the end of the presentation, there will be five minutes for questions from the audience.
Slides to be used in the presentation should be sent to the organizing committeewhen requested.
